Russia is preparing meeting between Moldova, Transnistria leaders

Russia continues preparing a meeting between the leaders of Moldova and Transnistria, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“President Medvedev is personally working to prepare the meeting between Moldova’s President Voronin and Transnistria’s leader Smirnov as quickly as possible,” Lavrov said in an interview with the Echo of Moscow radio.
He says the Russian head of state “has met both leaders and called on them to understand our actions.” The meeting was to have taken place at the beginning of November, but it did not.
“We will urge the sides to meet, nevertheless,” he said.
